Adata enters the enthusist market with their X-series overclocking ram
Introduction
"Founded in May, 2001 by Chairman and CEO Mr. Simon Chen, A-DATA Technology Co., Ltd. has quickly risen to become one of the world’s largest memory and flash product providers. At the beginning, with DRAM modules as the major product line, A-DATA’s mission was to become “The Global Leading Brand of Memory Products.” Later on, recognizing the market’s trend, A-DATA diversified its product portfolio to include Flash peripherals and multimedia solutions. Capitalizing on the strong growth of DRAM memory and flash related products in the market, based on DRAMeXchange 2006 and iSuppli 2006 reports, A-DATA ranks second in the world for DRAM Modules and fourth for Flash Disks respectively. High performance memory is something that manufacturers have always tried to push themselves towards. A landmark barrier which was recently broken included memory reaching speeds of upto 2Ghz!! While manufacturers like Corsair, OCZ, Super Talent and Patriot have been busy developing their high-end memory modules, Adata concentrated their efforts on providing memory for the masses. But that doesn't mean they haven't looked into other areas. Well, you'll be glad to know that this year, Adata have introduced a whole new range of memory products for all types of users ... from gamers to hardcore overclockers and enthusiasts. Take a look at the list below.

X-Series
With this new range of memory products, Adata can finally step into the highly competitive enthusiast market. It's not going to be easy, especially when you already have well established brand names who's been in this game for some time. The only way Adata is going to compete among the big boys, is through its competitive pricing.
When I first heard about DDR2 memory, I was pretty confused how they class and labelled them. OK, I'll try and give you some DDR2 terminology ... More information can be found HERE
** Unofficial DDR2 specifications
In this review, we'll be taking a look at the Adata DDR2-800 X-Series 2Gb kit. These modules are designed and aimed at the overclocking and enthusiast market. They use Micron original ICs, D9 to be exact ... which delivers outstanding performance, rock-solid stability and high compatibility. The 2Gb kit we'll be testing are rated at DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) spec and can run at speed of 400Mhz with a low memory timing of 4-4-4-12. For cooling, these modules include some black heatspreaders which looks pretty good too.
We will be overclocking these modules to see how far we can reach ... well, they are designed for overclocking aren't they? I have a feeling that these modules will do pretty well, especially if they are using Micron D9 ICs. Anyway, enough talk ... let's take a closer look at the specifications ...
