Abit's back ... but will their uGuru Technology make overclocking a breeze? INTRODUCTION
Abit over the years have produced many exciting and innovative products. I remember way back during the Pentium days ... Abit was one of the first motherboard manufacturers to feature overclocking abilities in their BIOS. They quickily became known among enthusiast as the brand to go for. Their motherboards were highly sought after, due to the overclocking abilities of the BIOS, and for that ... Abit have won numerous awards from many hardware websites ... including ours.
But in recent months, epecially around the second half of 2005, Abit's financial situation wasn't too good. With heavy competition and large losses, Abit's future looked bleak. Luckily in early 2006, the merger between Universal Scientific Industries (USI) and Abit helped them get back on their feet ... under a different name of Universal Abit. With huge financial backing ... Abit is back. And this time, they tackle the enthusiast market head-on competing against DFI, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte. They waste no time in releasing their flagship socket-939 motherboard based on the NForce4 SLI x16 chipset (nVidia C51D and CK804 SLI). As you know, the NForce4 SLI x16 chipset allows two NVidia PCIe graphic cards to run in SLI mode with each card receiving the full 16 PCI Express lanes. The AN8-32X also includes Abit's latest innovative feature ... the new uGuru Technology overclocking function and also the Silent OTES™ Technology cooling solution. With all these extra features, Abit can really make a board special. I couldn't wait to test this motherboard when Abit sent the sample to me.
The overclocking functions in the uGuru menu looks really nice and easy to use. And since Abit is renowned for their overclocking technologies... it shouldn't be too dificult to overclock my brand new AMD dual core Opteron 165 processor to FX-60 speeds with some decent DDR ram. OK, now let's not waste anymore time, and see what Abit's flagship AN8-32X motherboard has to offer ...
